With his series Trova, Gilles Roudière offers a photographic stroll through Cuba in the style of Spanish-American trovadores who traveled from town to town to perform their songs. He lets himself be transported by his journey and delivers powerful black and white images with an exploded grain. Without ever stopping at the surface of things, freed from clichés and exotic temptation, his photographs combine fiction and reality and compose a movie-like story. Often bordering on surrealism, these photographs are carried by a fascinated and fascinating gaze.

Trova is published by lamaindonne.
