Self-taught photographer Caryn Drexl creates dark portraits of herself and models, her stages thick with metaphor. She flocks toward gothic objects, incorporating dead insects, blood-like threads, and dripping candles.

She works mostly in  digital photography, but her work often mirrors past aesthetics—black and white photos of women in antique dresses. Drexl grew up in Florida, but currently resides in North Carolina.
