Five decades of work integrating photography and activism

May 19, 2017

Steve Cagan is an activist and photographer from Central America. Cagan gets heavily involved in the process of covering the feelings and emotions of the stories he covers.

He’s not rushing to cover any pressing topics or issues. For some of his previous assignments, he’s known to spend many months with subjects to get honest, unfiltered portraits of people and their issues. The photographer is currently exhibiting “Working Pictures” at SF Camerawork. This is his career survey and the first solo exhibition on the West Coast.
