“Faces of Coney Island” by Mark Hartman

October 08, 2016

New York City-based photographer, Mark Hartman, in the grips of a midlife crisis (of sorts), ventured to the beach boardwalk of Coney Island in search of some clarity.

Since that first day, Hartman has taken the same train and walked the same path by Luna Park almost everyday with a camera in hand. Through interacting with the random and vibrant assortment of souls that cross his path, Hartman has amassed a stunning collection of intimate portraits that beautifully convey the mystique of Coney Island, as a surreal contradiction to the often-seen “concrete jungle” imagery of New York City.
