Lithuanian photographer and former architect Tadao Cern, observes intimate spaces in a public setting. By omitting the faces, one can avoid a personal connection between the subject and the observer leaving room for us to focus on the subtle gestures that show how people operate in a space where they feel comfortable. There is a specific pattern to the series, which consists of centering the subject in order to not cause much distraction. The goal is to represent how a person’s surroundings can influence their behavior. What is it about the beach that suddenly makes a person forget about their deficiencies?
