Anne Collier’s work touches on how culture and gender are appropriated and commodified within photography.

Her work challenges the viewer in the ways in which we see and consume various media. Collier takes existing published material and represents it in a way where the product for sale in the advertisement becomes secondary as she questions the role of the female in the picture. She does make adjustments, cropping, or altercations to these works. Collier is represented by Anton Kern Gallery out of New York and you can see additional works from her here.
