In her photographic series “Origins”, Acacia Johnson explores her roots through the landscape of her native state. The recent Rhode Island School of Design graduate and Alaska native has created a series that is both intimate and spacial. Johnson contrasts the vast and picturesque landscape with the close bond she has with her family in a way that draws the viewer into her world. With the passage of time as a reoccurring theme throughout her images, she uses it to abstract her landscapes into seemingly surreal scenes.
