Paintings by Alice Browne

February 25, 2012

Alice Browne is an abstract painter who plays with the relationship between the object and the representation of the object. Browne's work asks the viewer to see what it means to look at an object and what it is like to have the object look back within a framed space depicted in the painting. The materiality of the paint takes presence over the form within the image, making the image vague and asking the viewer to investigate what they are looking at.
