Yu Maeda is back with his psychedelic paintings, coming to Superchief LA this weekend, May 11th. This Southern California-based painter, illustrator, and animator will be presenting his debut solo-exhibition.

Originally from Kumamoto, Japan, his work is influenced in equal parts by Buddhist imagery and American Lowbrow Art. He often paints geometric, symmetrical, and colorful statues, temples, mandalas, pigs, bats, snakes and psychedelic/spiritual iconography.

The show will feature new paintings, prints, books, sculptures, and animations.

An opening reception for Saturday, May 11, 2019, will be held from 7:00 to 11:00 PM at Superchief Gallery LA
