This month, Cooler Gallery in Brooklyn presents Truth or Dare, an exhibition of new paintings, drawings, and oversized woodcuts by the New York City based partners Siobhán Gallagher & John F. Malta.
Siobhán Gallagher is a senior designer with Abrams Kids & Comic Arts in New York. Hailing from New Brunswick, Canada, her work often deals with observational humor, analyzing femininity, and personal confessions. Her illustrations have been featured on Bust, Us Weekly, Huffington Post, and Elle Canada and she was recently awarded the Society of Illustrator's Silver Medal of Excellence in the single image category. Siobhán was recently named one of Print Magazine’s 15 Under 30 New Visual Artists.
Siobhán’s first book, In a Daze Work: A Pick-Your-Path Journey Through the Daily Grind, is a humor-based, illustrated choose-your-own-adventure book published by Penguin Random House in July 2017. She is currently working on her second book.
John F. Malta is an illustrator and art director who works out of studios located in Ridgewood, NYC and Kansas City, Missouri. John’s paintings and installations have been exhibited widely across the country at galleries such as New Image Art, Hashimoto Contemporary, Spoke Art NYC, Superchief, Good Mother Gallery, and Think Tank LA.
