Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles is gearing up for 2 new shows. The first is titled Betwixt and Between, a 2 person show featuring the work of Sarah Joncas and Kelly Vivanco. This show centers on the shared narrative focus of Joncas and Vivanco, which is directed towards the potential of the subconscious and executed in a playful, and surreal style. The second show is Scott Listfield's solo debut at the gallery, titled 1984. Listfield's show, aptly titled after George Orwell's 1949 classic, focuses on the not-so-hard-to-miss similarities between Orwell's dystopian nightmare and our own present reality. Listfield's signature astronaut wanders a nostalgic yet sparsely populated version of 1980s Los Angeles, shedding light on the similarities between Orwell's hyper-surveillance and our own consenual voyeurism, created through our engagement with social media and commercial advertisement.
