SWIM Gallery Celebrates One Year With Massive Group Exhibition "SHARKS"
SWIM Gallery is getting ready to open their latest group exhibition SHARKS, which will feature work from over 30 incredible artists. Like sharks navigating the ocean landscape, artists are beautiful and majestic, yet ruthless. They embody both the light and dark sides of perception. An artist must be strong, persistent, and never be let down by denial or failure; simultaneously, steady and consistent when producing work. The artists of “SHARKS” display these characteristics. They are strong and hold their ground in a competitive art ecosystem where various institutions are all out to survive.
This exhibition, curated by Yarrow Slaps and Auguste Somers, marks the 1 year anniversary of SWIM Gallery at its 509 Ellis St. location in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District. Join them on May 24th 2019 for the opening reception of “SHARKS” which will feature a dj set by DJ Beats Me and a poem by Tongo Eisen-Martin.
Featured artists include:
Brianna Rose Brooks
Monica Kim Garza
Jenaro R. Goode
Devin B. Johnson
Alfonso Gonzalez Jr.
Martin Kazanietz (Gordopelota)
Ian Thomas Miller
