"Sweet Spoils" Group Show at Miishkooki Art Space

Aug 26, 2016 - Oct 01, 2016Miishkooki Art Space, Skokie

Artist John Maloof, director of the Oscar and Emmy nominated documentary, Finding Vivian Maier, recently opened Miishkooki Art Space, a new gallery in the heart of the Northern Chicago suburb of Skokie. Miishkooki's first show features work from Joan Cornellá, Brecht Vandenbroucke, Sean Norvet, and many more!

"Sweet Spoils is an expression of the dichotomy between the beautiful and the blemished. Everyone, everyday, feels it, sees it, and knows it, but it is artists as these, with their unapologetic c eye, who can translate these universal experiences into modern day visual art. Taking the very best cynical and sardonic iconoclasts of the day, mixed in with the most compelling up-and-coming artists that share those perspectives, Sweet Spoils has no other choice than to challenge all that is acceptable, and to shine a light on the otherwise unseen, but defiantly felt."

The exhibition will present works by Joan Cornellá, Sean Norvet, Brecht Vandenbroucke, Robert Beatty, Joe Tallarico, Sarah Rose Niemiec, María Melero, Angela Dalinger, Rebecca Ness, Nate Otto, Brandon Celi, David Alvarado, Jason Davis, Ben Moss, David Alvarado and Jim Ether.
