Juxtapoz's August 2017 cover artist and Australian-based painter Fintan Magee just recently opened "Waves," an exhibition of new paintings at Galerie Mathgoth in Paris.
As you can note from our cover story with Fintan, we have been deeply impressed by his muralism talents over the past few years, as he has travelled the world creating some of the most painterly murals in the genre. He is able to treat a multi-storied wall as if its a canvas. For his newest show in Paris, his technical painting chops work just as well in a gallery as they do on a wall. A few months back, Fintan told us, "I'm a portrait painter, so it's the people I meet who are important." From these works, you can draw your own stories about each person that appears in the work; where they were captured, how they posed, did Fintan capture them in a photo. But mainly, you just want to keep looking.
