We’re enchanted with Jessica Watts' paintings—stunning portraits overflowing with bright and pale flowers. Watts started out in advertising, ignoring her desires to make art and paint. Eventually, she says, she succumbed to her “inner [Robert] Downey Jr.,” whose quote she lists in her bio: “Listen, smile, agree, and then do whatever the fuck you were gonna do anyway.”

Her work is a combination of paint and collage and she enjoys the possibilities of repurposing bits and pieces of the world in her work. She was inspired to paint her Wallflower series by vintage wallpapers. On the series, she writes, “seeing a body without the face that goes with it feels voyeuristic and incomplete.”
