Colin Prahl's hypnotic solo exhibition, Geodaesia, opens this month to Northern California viewers at The Chambers Project Gallery. Prahl paints psychedelic imagery with draftsman-like precision in conceiving celestial scenes of deep space.

Leaving Upstate New York, Prahl earned his B.A. in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design, before moving to New York City, where he earned his chops as studio assistant to several distinguished artists. Shaped by a keen interest in perception, and deep neuroscience, Geodaesia captures perspectives into deep space, flirts with the possibility of other dimensions, and deepens intangible vibrations of the mind. With an acrylic airbrush as his appliance of choice, Prahl creates shimmering expanses of color that crackle, like glowing geometric canvases pulsing off walls.

After a successful group show last year, Prahl will have his first West Coast solo exhibit at the Chambers Project. “It's really exciting for us to bring Colin's work to Nevada City, his paintings attracted so much attention in 2018. I think people are really going to be blown away when they see these pieces as a collection. The effect they have is indescribable.”

"Geodaesia" opens on June 1, 2019, at The Chambers Project, with an artist reception from 5 pm to 9 pm.
