This 8-week break has given us a chance to really take a moment and regain some quality research time with some of the great new artists on our radar. Our friends and family are doing this as well, and in a literal sense, Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco is about to open their own Friends & Family group featuring new and recent works on paper from artists in their network. Each work in the show was creating during the pandemic, giving an immediacy to the show as well as an insight into how artists create works on paper when prompted. The intimacy, a word we keep going back to over the last weeks, is evident in each's artists approach.

Participating artists include: Dennis Brown | Stephanie Brown | Gina M. Contreras | Joel Daniel Phillips | Ken Garduno | Casey Gray | David Heo | Liz Hernandez | Jessica Hess | Celia Jacobs | Erik Jones | Jess Mudgett | JP Neang | Hilda Palafox | David Polka | Stacey Rozich | Lindsay Stripling | Rachel Strum | Shannon Taylor | Kristin Texeira | Anna Valdez | David Welker | Ryan Whelan | Alex Ziv

As is the case across most of the art world, there will be no opening event for the San Francisco show, but Hashimoto Contemporary will hosting a "digital opening" on Saturday, May 9th at 2pm PST via their Instagram Live.
