Guerrero Gallery's latest is a two person show by Maija Peeples-Bright and Sam Spano, titled Dinner for Two. Maija Peeples-Bright is an artist who pioneered the Funk Art Movement in San Francisco in the 1960s and 1970s. One of her notable contributions was her "rainbow house" that she painted fabulously inside and out, which became a staple location for artists of the day to come, hangout and paint murals. This comprehensive exhibition of her work spans nearly 5 decades of her eclectic sculptures and paintings. Sam Spano is an Oakland-based artist and recent graduate of San Francisco Art Institute, who's paintings in this show center around dark psychological narratives, entering into a dialogue with Peeples-Bright's more lighthearted and exuberant portrayals.
