After more than a year out of the spotlight, DALeast is back with a new solo exhibition opening on March 18th at Weinstein Gallery in San Francisco. Fresh from his 14 months trip around Nepal, India and Bali, the Chinese artist will be introducing his new body of work titled "Plasma."
This exhibition will be the second in a series of solo exhibitions for DALeast following his 2014 show at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York. Taking inspiration from the definition of plasma being "an electrically neutral medium of unbound particles which are not ‘free’ in the sense of not experiencing forces“, the artist is using the scientific definition to challenge and explore the concept of the impermanence of form, and the form of impermanence. With his unique visual language he is scrutinizing living beings, primarily animals, to tiny particles or threads, as a part of constant exploration of the inner self. Often capturing dynamic moments, his images are showing the temporariness of the material world in relation to the spiritual. Creating public art since 2004, DALeast has since become one of the most respected and prolific urban artists, creating murals in 50 countries across the globe with more being planned in the coming months. –Sasha Bogojev
