Talon Gallery in Portland is currently showing a double solo show by the two former Juxtapoz cover artists: Tiffany Bozic and Josh Keyes. Basing their paintings on the depiction of the animal kingdom, often in relation to manmade objects and environment, Josh Keyes is showing Almost Paradise and Tiffany Bozic is presenting The Five Elements of Nature.

With four new acrylic on panel works by Keyes, he continues to provide us with alarming visions about where our society is headed, meticulously portraying members of wildlife in a human-free, abandoned urban landscapes. Putting attention on the environmental impact of humanity, this latest series of works also includes some deep, yet subtle references to politics and global socio-political situation. Using the abundance of negative space, the artist accents the deserted catastrophic setting in which his imagery is set.

Through her latest body of work that will be featured in her next book (which is set for release next Fall), Bozic is exploring the Sacred Geometry as a proof of a holographic universe and its ability to wake up the sleeping memory of our true selves. For her geometric framework, she referenced back to the ancient ideas around the five elements of nature and Platonic solids. Therefore, each of the presented acrylic on panel works correlate with the 5 elements of Nature stated by Pluto: Fire, Earth, Air, Water, and Easther (Spirit/Metaphysical). —Sasha Bogojev

The show is on view through May 31, 2018
