One of our favorite painters, Aya Uekawa, just opened new works at Kravets Wehby with the most lovely of names, "American Pies." Not the Jason Biggs, kind.

From the gallery: Incorporating textured surfaces and natural objects into her paintings, Aya Uekawa adds a tangible depth to this new body of work that highlights her unique sense of multidimensionality. The evocative feminine faces that Uekawa portrays are ringed with a series of objects, sometimes obscuring the still meticulously rendered expressions beneath. Uekawa’s shrouded faces add an extra layer of mystery and seduction, which, combined with her obsessive attention to detail, renders each painting a self-contained world of its own.
