'Veneers of painted flesh mingle on my canvases, blending the borders between figurative and landscape, portrait and abstract.  My deepest desire is to create provocative artwork that challenges the foundations of figure painting by continuing to blur the boundaries between digital and traditional work, pushing color, and recontextualizing traditional subject matter.'
Shaina Craft graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2011 with a BFA in painting and although she is from the Philadelphia area, she currently lives and works in the NYC area.  Her work is primarily figurative and her obsession with the human  form makes sure she never strays far from her favorite subject.  Her large oil paintings are glazed with many layers of sheer color, creating a luminous effect.  In addition to oil, she works in chalk pastel and digital photography.
