Born in 1928 in New York, artist John Wesley received his BFA from UCLA in 1950. Wesley's minimal range of colors and cartoon-like line work led him to be placed in the pop-art category in the 1960s. This series of works focuses on his subject's range of fleshy tones, again keeping a simple color palate of complimentary blue and yellow backgrounds. Wesley's works were somewhat provocative for the time, exploring sexuality within and outside of the traditional marriage.
