Man Ray was an American artist who spent most of his career in Paris, France. His Presse-Papier A Priape Priapus marble Paperweight was cast in 1972 in an edition of 500 and was dedicated to Priapus, the God of virility and has obvious sexual connotations. In his usual humourous tone, Man Ray recalled: 'On looking at the photograph of this object people usually asked me the size of the original. More or less like yours, was my reply'
