Born in 1962 in Boulder, Colorado John Currin received his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and an MFA from Yale University. Currently living and working in New York City, Currin's paintings are seductive and surprising. His painting style resembles that of an "Old Master" which references a skilled European painter working before the year 1800, but his subject matter appears largely contemporary. Currin's lusty nymphs draw us into their pornographic lives, keeping his viewer interested in their slightly bizarre world.
