Jeremy Lipking's oil paintings take a cue from the great realist tradition of the late nineteenth century, intimate portraits of reclining nudes and women in nature depicted through a mixture of open gestural touchs and sharp lifelike renderings. The human figure dominates his compositions, with Lipking's subjects often turning their faces away so that the body itself takes center stage. The son of a professional illustrator, Lipking attended the California Art Institute. He is based in Los Angeles.
