Hajime Sorayama is a Japanese illustrator, known for his precisely detailed, erotic hand painted portrayals of women and feminine robots. As a young artist in Japan, Sorayama was enthralled by the voluptuous images of females in film and advertising. The flirtatious and sexy women of "cheesecake" inspired and challenged him and his work began to be featured in ad campaigns for Sony and Levi's, among others. Penthouse magazine featured Sorayama in monthly issues. However, Sorayama took pin-up to a new level and made it his own. Keeping the teasing, suggestive attitude of this popular american genre, he employed his talent for rendering exquisite detail and thereby enhanced the quality of the images while retaining the sense of fun and peek-a-boo.
