The Minneapolis Light Grey Art Lab just opened a show called "Girls," featuring a series of illustrators' personal takes on their choice of real-life heroines or fictional women from pop culture and literature with a particular focus on the strength and sex appeal of female figures in our cultural rolodex. These illustrations are an awesome representation of how some of our most promising contemporary illustrators interpret the feminine badasses they grew up with. Some highlights include Barbie lounging in front of a sunset and Annie Oakley with her horse. What an awesome rebirth of girl power.
