'Born and raised in Paris, Franck Berthuot has been living in Hawaii for more than a decade. After a back injury while surfing, Berthuot got in the water and began photographing athletes in the famous waves of Maui. Berthuot started out as an action sports photographer, but was soon interested in capturing images out of the water as well. His current body of work experiments with heavy contrast black and white photography and explores the underwater work environment, capturing the beauty of people interacting with nature.'
