Aurel Schmidt is an NYC-based artist whose highly detailed work assembles the darker elements of humanity and rearranges them in a disturbing yet humorous way. In her series "Maneater," Schmidt brings together pieces of street trash, such as cigarette butts, condoms, and discarded food, and transforms them into faces, landscapes, and bodies with bizarre erotic undertones.
