We profiled Philadelphia-based artist Kyle Kogut in the July, 2013 issue of Juxtapoz Magazine. This morning we take a look at some of his more recent work and what the wonderful perspetive he gave us back in July!
In the July issue:
“The role of the artist is that of creator. The creator-artist positions themselves as both monarch and instrument, simultaneously being dominant and submissive to the work. One must be aware of Nature’s commandments prior to creating one’s own reality through abstraction of shape and pattern. While impossible to surpass Her, my study of Nature and the phenomenon that is life has been a continuous investigation of organic patterns and forms, stemming both from visual observation and also subconscious mark-making. Using an array of mixed media and processes, I create my works by overlapping variegated layers of these materials to attempt to portray the chaos, organization, and paradox of our world.” - Kyle Kogut
