While schools, music halls and theaters may not be quite open, Saturday and Sunday are just around the corner and SFMOMA has big plans to renew and refresh our hungry hearts . The members whose support makes this possible will enjoy a preview on Saturday, March 6, and the citizens who produce and inspire the art will be celebrated in a Free Community Day on Sunday, March 7th. Of course, the big, airy building offers safety with capped capacity and timed tickets, as well as pristine air purification and complementary masks for those who (somehow) arrive barefaced.

Now on to the show, which among many highlights, features New Work: Charles Gaines, the esteemed conceptual artist who returns to SFMOMA with two major works examining racism and the Dred Scott Decision. Photography fans will enjoy Off the Wall by five international artists and their engrossing use of the medium. Close to Home: Creativity in Crisis connects visitors with local artists who share experiences from the past year.

We’re happy to revisit Bay Area Walls, previously featured on our website, applauding locals Muzae Sesay, Twin Walls Mural Company, and Liz Hernandez, and look forward to checking out more photo-based work, these from Erina Alejo and Adrian L. Burrell.

Put on your comfy walking shoes - wait, you’re already wearing them. But this time keep the dog home and take in all the beauty and fresh ideas that will put more spring in your step and fire up those sleepy brain cells. It’s ART and it’s alive!
