We've been closely following the Instagram stories and updates of our Summer issue cover artists, OSGEMEOS, as they are working on a new installation over at Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The twins started working there over 2 months ago, taking part in this year's artist residency program, and have almost one full month until the finished works get revealed to the public on September 21st.
The Mattress Factory is a contemporary art museum and experimental lab featuring site-specific installations created by artists in residence from around the world. This year's participants include William Earl Kofmehl III, Laleh Mehran, Karina Smigla-Bobinski, Christina A. West, and OSGEMEOS. According to this exclusive footage the brothers we scooped from their social media, this installation is shaping up to be one of the most elaborate ones they've created. And knowing their usual way of presenting works, such as their exhibitions Opera Of The Moon in Sao Paulo in 2014 or Miss You in LA in 2012, we're excited to see what they've put together during this residency.
From the images and clips they shared online we can tell there is a whole room transformed into the landscape from their recognizable universe, there are different points of view to enjoy and experience the work, mirrors, sculptures, including 3D version of their signature graffiti work, plus there seem to be smaller studio works included in the presentation. We're especially intrigued about this realistic image of one of their yellow men being elevated above the pine forest by what we believe is a UFO or something along those lines. —Sasha Bogojev
