For this show at Mortal Machine Gallery in New Orleans, Luke Pelletier made a new body of work and recorded a full length album with the same title, American Stories & Sentiments. This is the first time he’s combined my music and visual art together in a gallery setting.
The body of work is made up of paintings, short stories, photographs, songs, and painted guitars. The work that Luke made for this show is filled with narratives that celebrate, poke fun at, and enthusiastically document the American anti-hero. The songs reminisce on bad behavior. The paintings inflate stories of crime, violence, and romance. The short stories relay and twist tales from his past. And the painted guitars leave plenty of room for new stories to be told.
