The King of Neon, Drippy Psychedelia, Oliver Hibert recently released his version of both the Minor and Major Arcana Tarot Cards.
Oliver Hibert has lent his colorful, bold, fantastic, surreal and at most times psychedelic hand to the world of Tarot, creating a much-needed update to the mystic's playbook that can now be seen glowing under blacklight. The 'tarot' is a pack of playing cards used from the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe to used by mystics and occultists for divination - a perfect canvas for Hibert's characters to inhabit; being eyeball-headed, spider-bodied, rainbow-goop-infested creatures from space.
Hibert describes his art as an escape from the mundane, influenced by music, colors, death, life, beauty, ugliness, cartoons, drugs, sex, mystery and magic. He works and resides in Scottsdale, Arizona on his desert farm of cacti and one thousand peacocks.
The VONZOS release consists of a pack of 78 tarot cards designed by Oliver Hibert together with a book featuring an introductory essay by Oliver Hibert and a substantial essay by the British writer and lecturer Caroline Wise.
