María María Acha-Kutscher illustrates women exercising their voices in political struggles.

She says her work focuses on the woman, on “her story, the struggles for emancipation and equality, and the cultural construction of femininity.” The political dimension of her work plays a dual role—“an artistic product in itself” and “an instrument [that] covers a social need and... contributes to political transformations.”

Her work includes illustrations but she doesn’t limit herself to any particular medium. She also co-directs an experimental art project, Antimuseo [translated as Anti-museum].
Acha-Kutscher was born in Lima, Perú and currently lives in Madrid.
