The Serpent Shed Silver, a new collection of graphite drawings by artist Christopher Charles Curtis will be on view from October 4 - 27 at CANVAS ArtSpace. In what will be his second solo exhibition at CANVAS, Curtis presents his most recent visions, meticulously rendered in graphite on paper. Curtis expands upon his unique use of symbolism to illustrate the notion of the dissolution of the ego. Pulling references from old photographs, Gnostic beliefs, and personal mythology, the artist portrays the ego in a variety of phantasmagoric forms in order to fully grasp its effect on the psyche.
Christopher Charles Curtis studied painting and drawing at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, earning a BFA in 2014. Curtis has since exhibited in several group and solo shows in and around San Francisco and throughout the United States, including the solo exhibition Nature's Black Crown: Tales of Restoration at CANVAS ArtSpace, Hendersonville, NC. In 2015 he won the Acker Award in San Francisco for visual arts. He currently lives and works in Hendersonville, NC.
The artwork will be on view at CANVAS ArtSpace from Thursday, October 4 - Saturday, October 27. Located at 212 S. Church Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792, and online at canvaswnc.com.
