Good Mother Gallery is hosting their latest solo show Paradise Vice, a series of illustrations by Oakland-based artist Cahill WesselParadise Vice aims to highlight the humor in humanity's paradoxical relationship with balance. Cultural zeitgeists are reduced to kitsch iconography, satirizing modern society’s quest to achieve balance in the most turbulent period of history. Timeless ideologies root in the mundane. Items and imagery that passively dominate culture battle for space in colorful, convoluted scenes. Paradise Vice, playfully showcases mankind’s fruitless attempts to juggle cultural advancements along biological progression. Opposing forces are thrust together in contextless arenas, challenging the viewer to confront their own opinions about the world they live in.
