RETNA Designs Featured In the Seattle Opera's Rendition of "Aida"

May 05, 2018

Graffiti legend RETNA recently collaborated with the Seattle Opera for their production of Aida, which opened at the McCaw Hall earlier this month, after debuting in San Francisco in 2016. The production features his signature glyphs throughout. It's a long journey from tagging buildings to producing artwork for an acclaimed opera performance...

"Acclaimed stage director Francesca Zambello was looking to create something unique, when she asked RETNA to collaborate with her on a new production of Giuseppe Verdi’s opulent Egyptian masterpiece. The artist’s signature graphic calligraphy, which evokes ancient hieroglyphics within the context of contemporary street art returns for a third season, this time in Seattle, after the success of the San Francisco and Washington D.C. production, where bold visual backdrops and sets are blended with the art of opera."
