If you ever get the chance to head out to Mana Contemporary in Jersey City, a must-see is the wonderful studio and working space of Gary Lichtenstein Editions. Gary Lichtenstein and his Gary Lichtenstein Editions are publishers and printers of fine art silkscreen editions, and for over 40 years, has printed work for Richard Meier, Robert Indiana, Bob Gruen, Michael DeFeo, Joanne Greenbaum, Gerard Hemsworth, Charles Hinman, Rebecca Miller, John Newsom, Gary Panter, Karl Benjamin, Robert Cottingham, Alex Katz and Ken Price.
In December 2017, Gary Lichtenstein Editions set up a booth at the Juxtapoz Clubhouse, featuring works by photographer Janette Beckman and Cey Adams.
Luckily enough, we have this mini-documnentary about the process. Artist's Artist is a profile of master screen printer Gary Lichtenstein, an exploration of Gary's creative process as he collaborates with photographer Janette Beckman on her photos of hip-hop legends (Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, etc) and visual artist/founding Def Jam creative director, Cey Adams.
