For some reason, while taking a 11 hour flight this week, we decided we were going to watch Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece, "2001: A Space Odyssey," for the first time in about decade. Besides the brilliance of the entire film, which we all know, we sort of got thinking about how Kubrick's special effects team was able to come up with such good visuals at this point in cinema history (1968). Yes, the film came out 50 years ago! April 3, 1968!
Luckily for us, Vulture just made a short about called 4 Ways 2001: A Space Odyssey Was a Visual-Effects Pioneer. We highly recommend the watch.
