Patryk Hadas was born in 1987 in Katowice in Poland. He spent his childhood in Berlin. He has been studying at Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in Painting Department since 2008. Now he is spending his 9th term as an exchange student at Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). 'I am a great fan of those ads which in some absurd way advertise products by means of sex. A well-shaven woman soaking up the hot sun and a deplumed chicken devoid of its head being roasted on a grill in a metal box – extraordinary! A top-less girl advertising roast chicken – that is a postcard I would send to other civilisations.
The variety of contexts for sex a human mind is capable of producing inspires me greatly as an artist. I am attracted to kitsch, asses and boobs. Great is my delight as I walk down the supermarket aisles and spot the very same products on shelves. I take in the atmosphere of these cleverly designed shops, where everything aims at appealing to my senses and stimulating my desires. I construct my pictures on the basis of that perfect plastic ad reality which I combine with my private imperfect experience of the ordinary and thereby give life to new contexts. I do not document any of these and I am not judgemental; I remain in between this bipolar cyclone, observing.'
