The Muses of Teiji Hayama

July 28, 2014

Teiji Hayama works mostly with oil, gouache and pastel featuring what he calls "pubescent girls evolving into women, a transitional stage involving social and psychological changes." Teiji says that these women represent messengers with glassy eyes and ambiguous gazes, reminding the viewer of the importance of life. The nakedness of his subjects expresses a form of innocence, displaying the purest essence of the human being.
