"Smoke" by Photographer Clayton Cubitt

May 28, 2014

Raised in New Orleans, photographer, filmmaker and writer Clayton Cubitt is a multifaceted artist who experiments with art, fashion and technology and any combination thereof. Clayton is partially known for a photo series about black skinhead culture which was recognized and appreciated by rapper Kanye West. Clayton is a believer of the concept that subculture is culture. As with many of his other projects, this series entitled "Smoke" comes paired with a quote which reflects the vision of the artwork: "There may be a great fire in our soul, yet no one ever comes to warm himself at it, and the passers-by see only a wisp of smoke." -Vincent van Gogh
