Jay Scott Pike Uncensored
Born in 1924 in Philadelphia, illustrator Jay Scott Pike is known for the creation of two prevalent female comic book characters known as "Dolphin" (DC) and "Jann of the Jungle" (Marvel). The experience of illustrating for comics impacted his works in the sense that he was expected to self-censor his drawings. Jay says of this experience: "I can remember I got a whole book back and had to make the bosoms smaller on the jungle girl, whichever one it was, and when she was flying through the trees on a vine or something her skirt couldn't go above her knees. I can remember having to go over the whole book and having to fix those things." In his personal illustrations, Jay was able to create the woman he had envisioned...and we are not disappointed. Take a look.
