Duplex, the curation team of Eden Deering and Sydney Fishman, is pleased to present Timeshare, a site-specific exhibition taking place in West Chelsea at the newly constructed 520 West 28th, built by Zaha Hadid. The residential building, which overlooks the High Line, is the last project Hadid was working on before her death in 2016 and will be her first and only residential building in New York City.
Bringing together over 50 emerging artists, the exhibition spans four residential apartments on the 13th and 14th floors of the building. In addition to the apartments curated by Duplex, Deering and Fishman have commissioned two other young, New York-based curatorial teams to bring their vision to the other apartments. Embedded within Hadid's interpretation of a residential living space, the apartments expose the domestic as artifice, draw from and respond to architectural motifs and explore the human narratives involved in the construction and occupation of a home. Ultimately, Timeshare acknowledges the intensely psychological relationship between a person and the physical spaces in which they inhabit.
