The passing of Wes Wilson earlier this year, one of the original "Big Five" of the San Francisco psychedelic poster art scene of the 1960s, prompted us to resume research on the new generation of psych poster artists. Back in 2018, we shared a conversation between musician Wild Nothing and poster artist, Aaron Lowell Denton, and today we pay homage to Wilson and refresh our site with new works from the Bloomington, Indiana-based designer.

Working heavily in the tradition of rock acts and abstract imagery, Denton dances deliciously between  nostalgia and contemporary design. One impactful piece that stands out is his album cover for the Leon Bridges/Khruangbin LP, Texas Sun. No color wasted, no extraneous details, just wonderful balance and a narrative of sound and vision that sings out.
