In Chris Labrooy’s latest digital animations, he’s created four cars—mutated into giant puzzle pieces and structures—and set in Tokyo. The cars are a Honda NSX, Datsun 240Z, Datsun Skyline GT-R and a Toyota AE86.
Labrooy says the project “draws on Japan’s rich car culture,” and was inspired by Kurokawa's Nakagin capsule tower, which looms in the background of some of his created scenes. We've posted on Labrooy's past explorations with automobiles.
Labrooy sees his art as a way to “subvert and twist familiar everyday things into new typographic and sculptural forms.”
