One of the world's most influential and visible artists has committed a new collection of prints for Black Lives Matter, Equal Justice Initiative, and Color of Change groups. Takashi Murakami, the famed Japanese artist will release six different black screen prints, each an edition of 300, in the hopes of raising over $1M for the groups with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to the organizations. The prints, featuring dense and intricate patterns of Murakami's famed skull and flower iconography, will be released in July via the NTWRK app.
As you can read in the statement above, Takashi notes, "I have said that a role of an artist is to discern the present and express it for the future audience. But if my art can effect any change here and now, I want to contribute it not only to give back but to give power to the Black community plagued by the racial injustice."
