An inveterate traveler, painter of walls and canvases alike, sculptor of deranged toys and a fan of the color pink, the enigmatic artist Buff Monster surprises and amuses in all mediums. In his latest monograph, Stay Melty, Buff collects his works in progress, paintings, murals, posters, stickers, Melty Misfits trading cards and toys. As it’s hard to keep up with this energetic artist’s output, fans will be grateful to find much of his recent work in one compact volume.
His first book in six years, Stay Melty features 600 photos across 224 pages and text written by iconic art critic Carlo McCormick. The Deluxe Edition of the book features a cover that Buff meticulously painted by hand. Each one features an iconic ice cream head, is signed on the back, has a thick durable protective plastic cover, and is presented in an elegant black fabric slip-case with metallic silver foil stamp.
Buff Monster grew up in Hawaii, lived and worked in Los Angeles, and currently resides in New York City. He will be signing books this Friday, January 30th at Giant Robot in Los Angeles from 2-3pm.
